The Surprise element in the MKOC concerts surely exceeds we hard core fans’ highest expectations and then some. It is a classic example of “tour de force,” a stroke of genius, a particularly adroit maneuver showing David’s great strength in song, maturing songwriter skills and his remarkable ingenuity as a magical-musical storyteller.

And David’s growth arc in live performance is remarkable. From that first solo concert in Virginia Beach where he stood at the microphone throughout the set list to now is simply difficult to assimilate.

The surprise element during this tour is energizing and propels the movement from song to song at the concert, from the uber fun and frolicking “Fa-la-la-la,” to every single song performance executed as if it is the last one he will ever do, to the supplicatory, powerful meditation tendered in “O Holy Night”, ending with a robustly authentic, from the heart and soul, encore performance—a declaration of the who, what, when, where and why of “I AM” in ”Little Drummer Boy.” Yes, a Tour De Force.

The Spontaneity of David’s dialogue, in the moment during each show is icing on an already rich entertainment and soulful experience. His spontaneity is noticeable not only in his chatter between songs but in the changeups of the VIP to add “Good Place/Let It Be” and singing “Angels” with a High School choir.

His chatting within the “Fa-la-la-la” performance is a prime example and during the Verona performance he tells one of the guests on stage that her mistletoe hat was not “active” on stage – lolz – dry wit, indeed; very Gestalt, and showcases a growing ease with “in the moment” spoken words.

As David’s spoken word approaches his skill with song, and it will as all it takes is commitment and hard work which seem to be strong threads woven throughout the fabric that makes up David Archuleta, then he will have accomplished a power as an entertainer that will be hard for naysayers to avoid…they may not appreciate his brand of music but they won’t be able to resist the Tour De Force of a Surprising and Spontaneous David.

…whether he’s channeling Spirit or his inner creativity…yep,”Mohammed” has come to the “Mountain.”

David is here, front and center for the world to see. A Tour.De.Force. No baggage, no façade, no apologies, just pure David…..parumpumpumpum…parumpumpumpum!
